Finding a place to stay in Mobile at a very late arrival time was a bit daunting, with most prevalent hotel chains wanting almost $200 a night for a few hours. But I found a well kept secret: The Malaga Inn.
The inn is charming, with old style touches that use modern technology. The courtyards and walkways are beautiful, with southern style décor.
To start the day you need breakfast, and the most heartiest breakfast around here is found at Bob’s Downtown Restaurant. The food cooked like your grandmother made it for you will warm your belly and give you the energy you need.
The highlight of Mobile is the USS Alabama, a retired battleship turned museum that is sitting in the Gulf for you to explore.
To get here you can use the tunnel that goes underwater!
There ship is part of a park where there are more exhibits and a submarine that you can go inside of, the USS Drum.
The park has an aircraft pavilion with planes and helicopters:
And the USS Alabama itself is lots of floors to explore how life was on the ship:
Next stop: back to Texas, yee-haw!
