July 2021
Houston is about 3 hours away from San Antonio and the last stop on the summer road trip. We found great things to do here that were lots of fun!
One of the places to visit is Color Factory, a building with lots of art installations, most of them interactive, that celebrate color! There’s lots of photo opportunities and fun treats to try!
The best part is the ball pit at the end where you can play! It’s NASA themed because Houston is the home to the Johnson Space Center.
Speaking of, that was the next stop! It’s so worth it going here if you love all the things about space and the history of NASA and some once in a million exhibits.
You can actually touch a piece of the moon:
And a piece of Mars!
Step inside a recreation of a space shuttle that sits on an airplane:
A tram takes you to the actual NASA buildings on their property where you can listen to a recreation of the Apollo moon landing at the mission control:
Stand underneath the AWESOME Saturn V rocket:
And there’s even a SpaceX rocket now on display, with all its scorch marks left uncleaned per the request of Elon Musk.
The Museum of Fine Art in Houston is an elaborate group of buildings that have some outstanding artwork. It’s so large that there are underground tunnels (that are actual art installations of course) to go from one building to another. It truly is one of the best art museums!
You can grab a bite at the Cafe Leonelli in the Nancy and Rich Kinder building to have tasty Italian cuisine and some cool gelato.
We also grabbed a concert at the famous Minute Maid Park to see the Hella Mega tour with Green Day, fulfilling a teenage wish of mine.
Back to San Antonio, where it’s time to plan the next place to go soon!
